My New Favorite Snack + GIVEAWAY!

That's It Bars After getting tired of yogurt on repeat as my daily snack, I decided to switch up my snacks and try something new.  I usually like to take an apple in addition to the yogurt, but I just couldn’t stomach the price of my favorite variety, honey crisp at $3.99/lb.  As a result, I’d been forgetting the fruit and sticking to the yogurt alone, which isn’t so great for my daily fruit intake.  However, I recently discovered “That’s It” healthy snack bars.  That’s It bars are, just that, 2 servings of fruit.  Typically I’m not a fan of bars due to the high sugar and typically low fiber content.  These are an exception.

If you come across these bars, you’ll notice that they contain only 2 ingredients- 1 apple + 1 serving of another fruit.  I’ll admit that I tend to advise against alternatives to eating a serving of fruit.  I really don’t like juices, as they eliminate the fiber from the fruit.  Without fiber, the glycemic response increases (the impact of food on your blood sugar) and the fruit loses any staying power.  These bars keep the fiber, and after eating them as my morning snack for the past couple weeks, I can say they held me through until lunch.

That’s It bars were recently sent with an astronaut aboard the international space station.  A great feature- they have a long shelf life and are resistant to temperature changes, yet contain no preservatives.  I’m looking forward to bringing them on hikes or the ski hill.  Also- if you are like me and slack on eating fruits and vegetables while traveling (and possibly experience some issues with regularity), you may want to give these a try.

We tried the coconut/apple, blueberry/apple and mango/apple.  My favorite flavor was the coconut, but Doug has almost finished the box of mango.  The bars also come in pear, banana, cherry, apricot strawberry and pineapple.  

Some other benefits for those following a specific diet- these bars are gluten free, vegan and raw.

  1. I agree with you, i prefer fresh fruit to a snack bar. It is good to know that these just contain fruit and it is a healthy convenient “on the go” option too. My husband used to love trail mix bars in his lunch, but after discovering 20+ ingredients and the high sugar content those were cut!
